I was born in Sri Lanka, a country rich in cultural heritage, natural beauty, and artistic traditions. My early experiences growing up amid diverse landscapes, vibrant communities, and centuries-old history continue to influence the way I see and interpret the world today.

Later in life, I immigrated to the United States, embracing a new chapter filled with opportunity, discovery, and creative growth. I now reside in Ames, Iowa, where the quiet beauty of the Midwest provides inspiration for both my artistic and intellectual pursuits.

My academic interests are rooted in the social sciences and anthropology. I am deeply fascinated by people, cultures, traditions, and the stories that connect us across time and place. This passion for understanding human experience shapes not only my scholarly perspective but also my creative work.

Beyond my academic interests, I am a writer of songs and poetry. Through words, I explore emotion, memory, identity, and the relationships between people and the environments they inhabit. These themes often find their way into my visual art as well.

Painting has become one of my most meaningful forms of expression. I am particularly drawn to landscapes and abstract art, where I can balance observation with imagination. My artistic style is primarily minimalist, focusing on simplicity, atmosphere, color, and form rather than excessive detail. I believe that art does not need to say everything; sometimes the most powerful works leave space for viewers to bring their own experiences and interpretations.

My paintings often reflect a sense of quiet reflection, movement, and connection to nature. Whether inspired by distant memories of Sri Lanka, the open landscapes of America, or the universal emotions that unite us all, my work seeks to create moments of contemplation and emotional resonance.

Through both art and writing, I strive to tell stories that transcend geography and culture, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and discover their own meaning within each piece.

Thank you for visiting my gallery and becoming part of this ongoing creative journey.

CanvasMaxart Song

Out where the morning light paints the sky,
I pick up my brush and let the colors fly.
Every stroke tells a story true,
Canvasmax Art, born from me and you.

Canvasmax, Canvasmax, hang it on the wall,
Let it warm your heart like an old front-porch call.
From the fields of gold to the deep blue sea,
Canvasmax Art sets your spirit free.

Rivers of paint and mountains of soul,
Sunset on the canvas makes a broken heart whole.
Simple beauty in every frame,
Canvasmax Art calls your name.

Come on home to the art that feels right…
Canvasmax, paintin’ love in the light.
